What is Ace Hotel?

Ace Hotel is first and foremost a collection of individuals — multidisciplinary thinkers, designers, writers, enthusiasts, optimists and some numbers people to keep things upright. We use our combined powers to build friendly and inclusive spaces, restaurants and experiences, introducing our guests and neighbors to new cities, nascent subcultures and each other. We’ve been doing this since 1999.

To date, we’ve opened 15 hotels across the globe, and currently you can sleep with us in the United States, Japan, Australia, Greece and Canada. The hotels we build function as living, breathing parts of their local communities.

We don’t have strict parameters on what we do or where we go and, because of that, we have the ability to follow our creative obsessions and idiosyncratic interests. Which led us here.

Why is a hotel on Substack?

Why not? Life, as we see it, is an experiment. And, until now, Ace Reader was the only place on the internet to stay abreast of our collaborations, artist interviews, chef-curated food tours and other things we like. Room with a View is a place for new perspectives — direct dispatches from our artists in residence, field notes from far afield, deep dives into design, happenings in our communities and more. We’re always partnering with those whose work inspires us and thought you might like to hear from them, too.

This space will be ever-evolving, like us. But know that everything we do, we do with love, careful attention, passion in our hearts and fire in our bellies. Including this.
